How To Program Rogers Remote To Change Tv Channels

Everyone watches TV in their own way. Some of us tune in for the latest reality series, while others go crazy for drama. Hi Mike,After reading these threads I just want to confirm that if you have the most recent nextbox 3.0 HD model and most recent guide (enhanced guide), you can’t hide unsubscribed channels? This is my experience. There is only an option to hide all or hide individual channels if I select one by one. What’s funny is when I had the nextbox 2.0 HD, there was this option. I upgraded the box but ended up having fewer options.

I did notice that if you press ‘c’ button on the remote when you are in the guide, you can filter channels to “subscribed”, however, once you leave the guide the channels go back to showing all. Is there any way to save filtering channels option? Could it be Rogers is just too lazy or couldn’t even be bothered to install a simple software patch to fix this even though thousands if not millions of customers have pointed it out? This is not an insurmountable task. Shaw has solved this and they even have a helpful video for their customers dealing with this very subject. With all due respect, Rogers should get on the ball and solve this annoying problem or they will continue to lose customers to their competitors and/or cable-free access on the internet. If you set aside the massive annoyance factor, it’s actually a shrewd business decision for Rogers to make it impossible to easily hide unsubscribed channels.

Ever notice when you click a channel that you don’t have, it immediately asks you if you want to ‘subscribe now’? If they can program that, they can just as easily program a way to hide unsubscribed channels.

I think they just don’t want to. They think there are enough people who’ll lazily say “yeah, sure, add this channel”.

I think they’re wrong. What is Rogers thinking, really! By making the channels unsubscribed appear while browsing & going up & down your channels, people will be happy with Rogers that it’s letting them see all these channels & making it easier to subscribe top them??? I’ve yet to find a single person liking this option and not considering that an annoyance when browsing channels.

On new boxes, they are just punching in the channel numbers to get past this stupidity of having to go thru dozens of unsubscribed channels. You can make people happy with this irritating user-unfriendly behaviour! They have made the remotes now in a way where paid services have bigger and more obvious button at easy locations instead of putting other important ones, e.g., Info, on those buttons. All these are there on purpose & have easy fixes programmatically, requires very basic skill level & software effort.

Our aim with Navigatr is to make your TV experience better. We’ve done a ton of research to improve the user interface of your NextBox and believe that once you get used to it, you’ll love it. We asked customers who got the first rollout what they thought of the new guide versus the old one – by a margin of almost four to one (agree vs.

Strongly disagree), people said they thought Navigatr offered a better experience compared to the old guide. We know it can take some time to adjust to a new guide. We have three how-to videos (on the guide, PVR and search) on our website (www.rogers.com/navigatr) and on Channel 1 and Rogers On Demand to help you learn more about the new guide. You just proved Rogers isn’t listening to its customers.

The new Navigatr is an epic fail. Simple commands take 10 to 15 clicks now. The box crashes often. When it’s not crashing it’s very slow to respond. There are no folders for the recorded shows any more and it is ridiculously image heavy but short on vital information. The search function is virtually useless. The only thing I will love about Navigatr is when Rogers finally comes to its senses and realizes what a huge mistake it was to release it before it was even remotely ready for customers to use.

Add my name to the thousands of customers who want the old version back now. We are fools or just getting used to it. Would you expect us to get used to a bicycle with square wheels? Let’s get real Rogers! This is a video which shows just one of the many things that are wrong with the new Navigatr. It isn’t a question of “getting used to it”. Your focus group must have been dazzled by the graphics but oblivious to its fatal flaws.

Your real-life customers are experiencing real frustration and real problems with the roll out. I respectfully suggest Rogers starts listening to its customers who are paying their salaries instead of telling them to get used to this. I am telling you this as a service to you. For the thousands and thousands who are suffering in silence and just grumbling to themselves there are only a few vocal ones who complain like myself. Navigatr should go back on the shelf until it’s ready for use. Hi Bill, I also have the Nextbox 9865HD at home. The steps you’ve outlined are correct, I’ve broken them down below:1.

Press ‘Settings’ on your remote.2. Arrow down to ‘Channel Setup’ (3rd option from the top), press ‘OK’3. Arrow down to ‘Hide Channels’ (last option), press ‘OK’4. Enter the channel number you wish to hide, wait for the list to update, and press ‘OK’ so a check mark appears next to the channel.5. Exit Settings. Now you will find that you cannot tune to the channel, or view it in the guide. If this functionality is not working on your equipment, I recommend chatting with our support team on Twitter @RogersHelps or facebook.com/Rogers. I agree with the above comments.

This original post is misleading. You cannot auto hide all unsubscribed channels, despite this being on most other platforms and this being a 4 year old post with pages of comments and complaints. This is Rogers just trying to sell you other channels, their ROD stuff etc.

And not giving a good product feature that is CLEARLY wanted and useful. My elderly relative is constantly stuck on these ROD channels and I must manually remove them for her. Please address this.

For anyone still finding this thread 5 years later, like I did, this doesn’t work on the current Nextboxes. You can’t simply remove channels you are not subscribed to, you need to go through, one by one, and add the channels you have to your favourites list, and then sort your guide by favourites.“That’s crazy that removing channels your not subscribed to isn’t a default feature”, you say? Enjoy wasting hours of your life, going channel by channel to write down a list of channels you have. Then, going one by one, and adding those channels to your favourites list, then setting your guide to sort by “favourites”.
